Je Manque Paris

I'm back from a week long vacation in Paris and missing it more than ever. I just uploaded all my pictures and here are a few that make me long to head back...

Delicious, strong and small coffee. Although I craved my giant cup of coffee that I usually have in the US, by the end of the week I was sold on the teeny strong cups of coffee (or cappuccino/ latte/espresso)

Incredible architecture, history and style...

And sunsets from our hotel balcony...

Sigh. Its not helping that I'm feeling a little sick and my right eyeball is on the fritz.

More Paris pictures to come soon...

tattoo lust

I have always wanted a tattoo but I've been too nervous to get one. I get sick of things pretty quickly so I don't know that I could ever choose a design that I would love for forever. I don't even know where on my body I would get one (it would have to be somewhere no one could see) and also maybe I'm getting too old for one. I do find them incredibly sexy on other people though.

I stumbled across Tattoologist earlier today and have wasted way too much time today looking at some glorious tattoos...

Would you ever get a tattoo? What would you get? If I got one now, I think I'd get a dharma wheel somewhere.

Have a Lovely Day...

via Everything Fabulous

I'm not sure why wearing perfume would make me have a lovely day but otherwise I think this could work...

whenever i'm alone with you

I was driving to the airport today and rocking out to my radio when I could hear the start of The Cure's Lovesong. Right before the song was about to play, the radio DJ said that once in an interview they asked Robert Smith the question "if you could relive any moment in time, which one would it be?". His answer was "My first dance with Mary." God that just melted my heart. He's been married to his childhood sweetheart, Mary Poole, for over twenty years now.* And Lovesong was written for/about her...

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again

However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again

However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you

*Before you think I'm all crazy and obsessed, I didn't know any of that background information (wife's name, etc) but wikipedia did. I super suck at remembering who sang anything most of the time...

Fashion scares me sometimes and I feel like I could never pull off what people are wearing so its nice to see something I think I could actually wear and be comfortable in.

What do you lean towards with fashion - more or less?

cheese

We leave for Paris in 15 days (!!!) and I am beyond ready and excited. I just read this awesome post about what the author of the blog Chocolate & Zucchini would do with only 12 hours in Paris. This cheese shop sounds incredible:
{1:45pm} I'll drop by La Ferme Saint-Hubert to say hello -- Madame Voy is the sweetest shop owner you'll ever encounter -- and buy a few of their finely aged cheeses (say, a thirty-month-old comté, a reblochon, and a raw milk mothais) that they'll vacuum-pack for me.
More descriptions:
Basque cheeses are available here among a selection of a hundred French (and English) cheeses, as well as a famous type of Camembert made from fresh milk. The milk happens to be brought directly from farm every Friday ensuring its freshness – something which can only happen in Paris.
Vacuum pack incredibly fresh cheese so we can bring MORE home. Ridiculous.

I'll come home very fat but very happy.

i miss pumping up the volume

I went to my friend Lisa's wedding last weekend (one of the most beautiful brides and weddings ever) and it made me miss my girlfriends so much. Most of our college friends are already married so the guaranteed occasions to meet up are slowing down. There's nothing like having a group of people that you are comfortable and at home with. There's nothing quite like laughing at ridiculous things until your stomach hurts. Or if you are some people (Sangeetha), laugh-cry.

I'm grateful for friends who I know will always understand me and for never having to explain myself regardless of how much time has passed. I'm especially thankful for all the laughs and how we continue to "pump up the volume" no matter our age.

*Pump up the volume is our phrase because we are lame and would rather take weird jokes too far and talk about pirates/other random nonsensical things than interact with other people or do "normal" things. We even started a pirate/hot dog blog once...
